Dr. Bauer has served for more than 30 years in various executive positions in several high technology companies, in the US, and Europe, often as a founder, member of the board, president. Among those were Hana Microdisplay Technology, SVISION, nCHIP, Integrated Device Technology, and Eurosil/Intersil. Starting with an engineering education in Switzerland, BS, Physics, Federal Institute of Technology, Lausanne, and in the US, M.S., Ph.D., Engineering Science, Caltech, Pasadena, his early responsibilities were technical in nature to cover later all aspects of high technology business: manufacturing, finance, marketing/sales, and general management. Since returning in Europe in December 2001, he became board member and mentor to a number of local high technology companies start-ups with focus in microelectronics, display, and lately micro- and nano-technologies with and without biotechnology aspects. This means working with local authorities, universities, and the financial community, especially venture capitalist groups such as Sofinnova Partners, France, Polytechnos, Germany, Nanodimension, Switzerland, and banks. Among those start-up companies, in Switzerland: Seyonic, Nemerix, Varioptic and Crocus Technology in France, and Xtellus, NJ, USA.
François Ermatinger served 19 years in the Banking industry in Neuchâtel and Zürich as head of commercial department at UBS. Since 1985 he is at the "Etude Dardel et Meylan" in Neuchâtel, with responsibilities in creation and management of companies, investment and fiscal management. He is a partner since 1991 of the Etude that merged in 2002 to Athemis. He has an Economic Sciences Degree from the University of Neuchâtel, option in micro-economics.
Nicolas Wavre graduated from the Federal Institute of Technolgy at Lausanne in 1970. In 1974 he obtained his PhD degree for his thesis on the design of Linear Induction Motors. The same year he was one of the co-founders of ETEL SA, a company that develops and manufactures electromechanical drives and specializes in high performance motion control. He has managed ETEL SA from its inception to the level of 220 people in 2002 with sales of CHF 40 mio. He is a professor at the EPFL and a member of the Swiss Academy of Sciences. In 2003 Nicolas Wavre decided to step down from his job as CEO of ETEL to become an independent consultant for the management of SME's and for the design of high performance motors and actuators, while keeping his teaching activity at EPFL. He participates in several companies as member of the Board.
Dr. Peter Ryser is a founder of several companies, like AMF Medical, bNovate, Advanced Microfluidic and Sensile Technologies. He was until recently Professor of Microengineering at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology EPFL in Lausanne for 16 years. He was teaching on bachelor and Master Level; product development, industrialization and technology management and has published over100 scientific and technical papers. Peter is also holding several patents.
Peter is active in several Board of directors: Sensile Technologies, BNovate, AMF Medical, and Advanced Microfluidics. From 2004-2011 he was a board member of the public listed company Tecan.
Peter holds a PhD. in Applied Physics from the University of Geneva, a Master’s degree in Experimental Physics and an MBA from the University of Applied Sciences in Lucerne. He is also a member of the Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences.
